Firstly, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who participated in and contributed to this year’s Ladies Day. A special appreciation goes to Anita Morton and Karen White for their outstanding organization of the event. The theme, “Red, White, and Blue,” was embraced with enthusiasm, as the ladies arrived in either golf attire of those colours or in creative fancy dress.
We enjoyed an 18-hole team Bowmaker competition, which included some exciting special challenges, such as nearest the pins, nearest the line, playing with only a 7 iron, and using a pink ball for bonus points, among others. After the first 9 holes, we were treated to a delightful refreshment break, with the option of Pimms or Elderflower, accompanied by delicious scones with jam and cream—just what we needed to refresh ourselves for the final 9 holes.
I would like to thank Robert Cort and Donald Agnew for serving drinks and mixing cocktails during the event. Following our round, we had the chance to change into our themed red, white, and blue outfits. W e then gathered for a wonderful meal of fish and chips, preceded by a welcome glass of Prosecco. The dining area was beautifully decorated in the red, white, and blue theme, with particularly effective bunting that added a celebratory jubilee feel to the room.
After the meal, I hosted the traditional “Heads and Tails” game, which culminated in Jac Brownsell emerging victorious and taking home a bottle of something special. I also had the pleasure of presenting the day’s prizes:
• 1st Place: Anita Morton, Tracey Lee & Karen Walker with a score of 112
• 2nd Place: Jac Brownsell, Carolyn Murphy & Linda Lord with a score of 106
• 3rd Place: Theresa Moynihan, Sue Britton & Kate Trotter with a score of 103
Additional awards were presented to:
• Nearest the Pins: Gill Loughrey and Lyn Flitton
• Nearest the Line: Alison Jenkinson
• Best Dressed: Mary McDiarmid
A heartfelt thank you also goes to Geoff Hembury and his team for their assistance in starting the competition, and to the staff at Wrag Barn for their excellent meal and superb service.
It was a truly memorable Ladies Day, and I appreciate everyone’s efforts in making it a success!
